Lift trucks were first introduced in the beginning of the twentieth Century. They have grown exponentially ever since the very first models. Their original purpose was to move supplies in an effective manner. This is still the main objective. There are a variety of different kinds of lift trucks utilized within the material handling business.

Motorized Pallet Truck Rider Type
The rider type of lift truck is a motorized kind of the pallet jack. This equipment is commonly used to move pallet trucks over extreme distances, including movement between departments or storage areas. There is one more type known as the walkie version. This particular type lacks the higher speeds and the operator platform. Low cost and hi maneuverability make these vehicles a great alternative for operations where frequent load movement is necessary. Several of the common alternatives include double pallet length forks that allow you to move 2 pallets in one trip.

Electric Counterbalanced Lift Truck
The Electric Counterbalanced Lift Truck is capable of racking and stacking loads, used to move pallet loads, as well as load trailers throughout a facility. This model has different kinds of attachments available and needs to have a wide aisle for turning.

Internal Combustion Counterbalanced Lift Truck
Electric trucks have functionality similar to an IC counterbalanced lift truck. Propane models are able to be used both outdoors or indoors as long as there is adequate ventilation.

Order Selector
There are man-up types of vehicles which are specifically made for hand loading less than pallet load amounts into and out of selective rack. The VNA or also known as very narrow aisle vehicles works in aisles less than six feet wide. These Order Selectors are also called Order Pickers.

Reach Truck
The very narrow aisle or narrow aisle lift trucks are used mainly for racked pallet storage up to 8 to 11 feet. Double-deep versions load pallets 2-deep in special double-deep racking systems. These kinds of reach trucks are effective and can make racked pallet storage a more streamlined process.
